On the occasion of this year’s FIFA World Cup, Athens Photo World transforms, from May 29 to July 31, the railings of the National Garden of Athens into an impressive open-air gallery dedicated to football.

The exhibition presents a series of 121 iconic photographs from the archive of the international news agency Associated Press, featuring historic moments from many of the World Cup tournaments that have been etched into the collective memory of fans all over the world.

Along Vasilissis Sofias Avenue and Amalias Avenue, high-aesthetic images capture emotion, intensity, and history-making moments, taking the viewers back in time, placing them “inside the action,” and offering an open cultural and sporting experience for all.
