Outdoor photography exhibition at the railings of the National Garden, on the side of Vasilissis Sofias Avenue and on Amalias Avenue. This year, as part of the sixth year of collaboration between Athens Photo World and the National Garden, an outdoor photography exhibition is being presented in partnership with OPANDA (the City of Athens Culture, Sports and Youth Organization) at the railings of the garden. The exhibition is themed “Extreme Places of our Planet” and is dedicated to those places that few dare to visit or even reach. Photographers from the Agence France-Presse (AFP) news agency have captured unique moments of rare beauty in places that few of us will ever visit due to their extreme geographical coordinates or environmental conditions.
Through the 48 images in this exhibition, always in tune with the major environmental issues of our time, AFP photographers and photojournalists make the inaccessible accessible and the distant almost familiar.
From the ice caps of the Arctic and Greenland, the salt flats of Argentina, the sand dunes of Africa and Saudi Arabia, the steppes of Mongolia, the volcanoes of Iceland, this “world, small yet mighty” unfolds in the centre of Athens.
